The Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Assumption was founded in France in 1865 by Fr Etienne Pernet, a member of the newly established Augustinians of the Assumption, and Antoinette Fage, a middle-aged woman orphaned at a very young age, as an effort to ease the misery of urban impoverishment among poor and working-class families.
By April of 1891, a community had been established in Ireland, further to the establishment of communities in London (1880) and New York (1891).
Today, we work with Sister Imelda O’Sullivan to act upon the “charism” of The Little Sisters of the Assumption and to share their core mission of bringing joy, hope and empowerment to society.
